Beacon Bar & Grill | Down the street from the UCDC Center, corner of Rhode Island
1615 Rhode Island Ave. NW, Washington DC 20036

Review: Decent $4 appetizers during Happy Hour, but slow and slightly rude service.

Upshire Girl's rating:
Review: Happy Hour was pretty inexpensive, but most places in DC offer comparable or better Happy Hour deals. Food was good, I definitely recommend the chicken wings. However, our server was inattentive and made a rude comment when he brought out our check.

Così | Multiple Locations
1350 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington DC 20036

Agent 024's rating:
Review: I've eaten a lot of sandwiches from here for intern lunches, org briefings, and just random times.  It's a chain so there's nothing special about any particular store.  I suggest the fire-roasted veggie for vegetarians and tandoori chicken or buffalo chicken for the meat-eaters.  Club Così is also tasty (bacon!).

Fogo de Chao
1101 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington DC 20004

Agent 024's rating: (4.5)
Review: Delicious Brazilian food, but pricey! Best to go during Restaurant Week.  Make sure to keep hydrated throughout the day before eating here--meats are salty (but delicious!   Excellent service--quick and friendly.

Kababji Grill | In Dupont Circle by Hello Cupcakes
1351 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington DC 20036

Review: Lunch specials are good value for DC - sandwich (chicken, steak, lamb) + fries + salad for $9.  Lamb sandwich was tasty!

La Taberna del Alabardero
1776 I Street Northwest  Washington, DC 20006

Agent 024's rating:  (3.5)
Review: Great choices on menu!  Service is very attentive and helpful.  Food was good but not stellar.  Nice cozy place with great ambiance.

Levante's
1320 19th St NW, Washington, DC 20036

Agent 024's rating:  (3.5)
Review: Nice place to try Turkish food.  Best deal for lunch here is the sandwiches (falafel, adana, kofte) that come with either a cucumber/tomato salad or fries.  If you're adventurous, try the ayran, a salty Turkish yogurt drink. Definitely try the Lahmacun, a Turkish pide--it's like Turkish pizza! :)

Lincoln's Waffle Shop | Next door to Ford's Theatre

504 10th St. NW, Washington DC 20004

Agent 024's rating:
Review: Cheap and delicious!  Nice hardy (and oily/fatty) meal for a long touristy day.  Chicken and waffles highly recommended.
Upshire Girl's rating:
Review: Good value and convenient location. Really enjoyed the chicken and waffles. Atmosphere is diner style (mostly sit at countertops) and the restaurant could be a little cleaner, but food and low prices make this place worthwhile.

Mandu | 2 locations
*453 K St. NW, Washington DC 20001 (next to Busboys and Poets)
*1805 18th Street NW, Washington DC 20009 (near Dupont Circle)

Agent 024's rating:
Review: Delicious, but non-traditional Korean food.  A little pricey though ($12-20/entree).  Soft tofu pot is very tasty!  Happy hour specials don't offer much--mandu for $3 and various soju cocktails and beers.

Review: Upscale Korean restaurant with good food and attentive service. My Bibimbap entree was a nice portion, but appetizer and "extra" platter (kimchi, bean sprouts, etc.) were slightly smaller than expected. Pricey and no BBQ available at individual tables.

Old Ebbitt Grill | By the Dept. of Treasury
675 15th Street Northwest  Washington, DC 20005

Review: By far my favorite place to eat in DC.  Serves decadent cuisine in a gorgeous environment that transports you back into an old-fashioned saloon.  Definitely a must-try place, especially for seafood fanatics.  Incredibly helpful service--ask them for suggestions!  I highly recommend the Parmesan trout.  Also a great place to go for happy hour if you enjoy fresh oysters.

Ollie's Trolley
425 12th St NW, WashingtonDC 20004

Agent 024's rating:
Review: Decent place that we stopped by after 4th of July parade.  Nothing too special, but I can't judge too much since I got a BLT.  Fries were well-seasoned though.  A little pricey and they police the water (they will ask for your receipt).

Perry's Restaurant
1811 Columbia Rd NW, Washington DC 20009

Agent 024's rating:
Review: Known for their sushi, but I didn't try it, so I can't say.  However, their steamed mussels in white wine and herb sauce is fantastic.  If you're a wine person, ask for recommendations.  Our waitress gave us excellent choices (some white wine from New Zealand and I don't remember the red).  Make sure you sit up at their rooftop bar--absolutely stunning gorgeous and incredibly romantic if it isn't pouring rain.

Scion Restaurant

2100 P Street NW,
Washington, DC 20037

Agent 024's rating:

Review: Good contemporary American food, but nothing to rave about.  Offers interesting combinations like wasabi caesar salad (don't get it) and brussel sprout curry.

Stars and Stripes Cafe | Smithsonian American History Museum, basement floor
1400 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington DC 20560

Agent 024's rating:
Review: Pricey but decent cafeteria museum food.  Wide variety for selection.  Good if you're spending the whole day at the museum.

Upshire Girl's rating:
Review: Food was satisfactory, but on the expensive side (at least proceeds support the museum). Very convenient location, plenty of seating available despite the crowd.

Washington, DC 20036 (by Dupont Circle)

Review: My guilty pleasure that doesn't make me feel too guilty. These fresh, filling salads can be your own creation or one of their signature salads. My favs are Bondi Beach and Guacamole Greens (for those missing California).  For those that like spicy foods, Spicy Sabzi is also an excellent choice, and though it's vegan, you can request for meat instead of tofu.  A little pricey for a salad, but at least it's healthy?

Suki Asia | A block down from UCDC
1730 Rhode Island Avenue Northwest  Washington, DC 20036

Agent 024's rating:  (4.5)
Review: Craving for some Asian food? This is the place to go.  Fast service and inexpensive food.  Not the best bibimbap but for $7, it's a good deal when it comes with your choice of miso soup or soda.  Also serves inexpensive sushi rolls.  Offers free iced green tea while you wait.
